The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given four new Nissan cars Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards.
These new models are the 2016 Maxima, Sentra, Murano and Rogue. The 2016 Sentra and 2016 Rogue earned Top Safety Pick ratings, while the 2016 Maxima and 2016 Murano both took home Top Safety Pick+ awards.
"Nissan is proud to again have our core vehicles recognized by IIHS for vehicle safety," said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). "The new Maxima, like the Murano, is setting high standards in its class for styling, performance and interior refinement. The 2016 Nissan Rogue and Sentra demonstrate Nissan’s commitment to high quality and safety standards, and we are gratified that these outstanding vehicles have been recognized for excellent design."
The Maxima and Murano earned their “plus” designations thanks to Nissan’s Forward Emergency Braking system that is required by the IIHS for cars to be considered a Top Safety Pick+. A later model of the 2016 Sentra is due to add the FEB system to its equipment roster, which should secure a “plus” rating is added to the sedan in the New Year.
