We all love some friendly competition, right? The all-new Nissan Maxima sure does, especially when it comes to speed and power. In order to debut the Maxima’s value as a “4-Door Sports Car,” Nissan took its newest edition of the classic sedan to the Buttonwillow Raceway and pitted it against three sporty competitors: the BMW 328i, the Acura TLX 3.5L Tech and the Audi A4 2.0T Quattro. In the end, the luxury competitors could not compare. During the competition, the Maxima boasted the top time of the four tested vehicles and ultimately defined its place as a top pick for sport sedans.

A third-party testing organization carried out the “2016 Nissan Maxima Test Track Challenge” and discovered that, when it was all said and done, the 2016 Maxima performed each lap almost a full second faster than its closer competitor, the BMW 328i, and more than two seconds faster than the Acura and Audi models. Pierre Long, the vice president of product planning within Nissan North America, commented on the favorable results stating, “We expected the all-new 2016 Maxima, with its re-engineered engine, transmission and chassis to do well, but frankly even we were surprised by the head-to-head test results against some very well-established luxury sports sedans.”

The all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima features a redesigned 300-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 15 percent more highway fuel economy. The car also gets a terrific Xtronic transmission that not only contributes to the extra speed and acceleration on the Maxima, but also adds to the smooth ride drivers feel in the sedan. Available now at Crest Nissan, the eighth-generation Nissan Maxima offers the style, power, efficiency and intelligence that buyers seek in a sports sedan.
