The next generation of the Nissan GT-R supercar is getting even more super with the addition of a twin-turbo hybrid V6 engine. An extremely powerful engine, a version of the new powertrain is currently used in Nissan's GT-R LM Nismo Le Mans racer.

Speaking to Top Gear, Ben Bowlby of Nissan's LMP1 Team said, "The 3.0-litre V6 [used on th Le Mas racer] is a sort of god-child of the true, road-going GT-R...and is truly an early ancestor of what will be a future Nissan GT-R engine."

The exciting confirmation of a racer-inspired hybrid engine for the GT-R is something that auto insiders have been speculating about for months. Many other luxury supercars already sport powerful hybrid engines, so it was only a matter of time before Nissan junkies starting asking for the same treatment in the GT-R. Right now, the Le Mans racer puts out an unimaginable 1,250 horsepower, which will translate to over 545 horsepower in the new supercar.

There's no official word yet on when we'll see the new Le Mans-inspired Nissan GT-R. While we wait, take a look at our current selection of the popular roadster. Our sales associates are standing by now to help you take it for a test drive.
