What's New for the 2018 Nissan Versa?

The new Versa has a lot going for it. It also switches things up a bit, at least where trim models are concerned. For starters, the base S model comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission only. Its old four-speed automatic transmission is no longer an option. The top-trim SL has also been discontinued, taking upscale features like keyless ignition and entry with it. Of course, the charm lies more in its affordability anyway, rendering an upscale trim model unnecessary.

Great Trims to Choose From

The new Nissan Versa is a roomy subcompact sedan, available in three trim models. Choose between the base S, mid-range S Plus, and top-of-the-line SV for the ride that best suits your budget.

In the entry-level Versa S model, you'll enjoy a spacious, comfortable ride, thanks to the roomy cabin. The S also has plenty of tech features to keep you connected, including hands-free phone connectivity and a handy auxiliary audio jack. Thanks to the Versa S power mirrors, it's easy to optimize your rearview.

When you upgrade to the S Plus, you'll enjoy greater convenience with a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. This model also features cruise control, so you can cruise up the highway with minimal effort. You can spot an S Plus on the highway, thanks to its rear spoiler.

Finally, there's the SV. This top-of-the-line Versa introduces upgraded cloth upholstery, a height-adjustable driver seat, and a driver-seat armrest for maximum comfort during your daily commute. The SV also includes a 60/40-split folding back seat, making it easy to expand the cargo hold in a jiffy. And, thanks to its keyless entry technology, you can hit the road in a hurry.

The SV also adds modern convenience with power locks and windows. When you add the Special Edition package to your Versa SV, you take connectivity up a notch with hands-free streaming audio and a 5-inch central touchscreen. The package also includes a rearview camera, so you can keep from nicking any grocery carts as you back out of a parking space.

The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generates 109 horsepower and 107 pound-feet of torque, getting you up to speed in plenty of time for smooth highway merging and passing. In the base S trim, the engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. If you prefer to shift your gears, this is the model for you. With the manual transmission, your Versa can earn up to 27 city/36 highway mpg. For maximum fuel economy, choose the continuously variable transmission. With this transmission, the Versa is economical, earning 31/39 mpg and optimizing fuel savings for an extraordinarily long commute.
