What's New For the 2019 Nissan GT-R Model Review

With their 2019 GT-R, Nissan didn't do much to change what's proven to be a formula for success. This car, which some may call a "supercar", is one of the leaders in the ultra-high-end market. It has a V-motion grille, a body shape that's been carefully designed to cut down on drag, iconic round taillights, and a luxurious interior that has a sporty, aggressive feel to it. Inside the car are several premium touches, such as an 8" touch panel monitor that can be connected with smartphones and responds to voice controls, lightweight performance seats, and steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles to give drivers better control.

Which Features are Available for 2019?

There are four options available for the 2019 GT-R: Pure, Premium, Track Edition, and Nismo. The GT-R starts at the Pure level. It comes with a 3.8L 24-valve V6 and sits on 20" super-lightweight Rays forged-alloy wheels. The car uses an Attesa E-TS all-wheel drive system, and all of the GT-Rs are unique in that they utilize a patented independent rear-mounted transaxle.

The Premium also includes a Bose audio system, active noise cancellation, and active sound enhancement to enhance the quality of the entertainment in the cabin. It'll almost be like you're sitting in a sound studio with the advanced equipment all around you. The Premium is built with a titanium exhaust to better ensure proper cooling.

At the upper end of things are the Track Edition and the Nismo. The Track Edition comes with Nismo-tuned suspension, a carbon-fiber trunk lid, a sleek black and red interior, and 20" Nismo black wheels. The Nismo includes all of those features plus Recaro leather-appointed front seats and a more aerodynamic body design with spoiler. Further, this model runs on a Nismo-tuned engine.

2019 Nissan GT-R Performance

2019 Nissan GT-R Exterior FrontThis car is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. Kept to a reasonable size, it's capable of producing almost incomparable results of 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque. Every detail has been considered in designing the GT-R, and under the hood, you'll even find the signature of the master craftsman who put all of your engine parts together. The engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission that can change gears in just 0.15 seconds when the car is in R-mode. This eliminates unnecessary time without power going to your wheels, keeping you moving efficiently.

On the Nismo, you'll have even more capability. With the help of high-capacity turbos adapted from Nissan's GT-3 racing program, the GT-R Nismo can ramp things up to 600 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque.

Packed with Safety Features

2019 Nissan GT-R Exterior RearThese vehicles are certainly built for speed, and Nissan took several precautions while building them so their drivers could stay safe while having fun on the roads. The advanced air bag system consists of dual-stage supplemental front air bags, driver and passenger seat mounted side-impact supplement air bags, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplement air bags. The type of construction that the GT-R has allows for front and rear crumple zones that can take on the brunt of many types of impact, and there are hood buckling creases and an energy-absorbing steering column to help keep additional force away from the people in the car. In addition, the GT-R comes with vehicle dynamic control and a traction control system so that drivers can maintain proper control, even in less than ideal conditions.
