Ever since arriving nearly six years ago as a subcompact crossover, the Juke has made plenty of news and collected a fair share of accolades. With trims that range from the base Juke S to the ultra-fast Juke RS Nismo, everyday drivers and professional racers alike have come to respect this crossover as a reliable carrier in addition to a speedy supercar. But, if there were ever any doubts about the crossover’s pure brawn, the Nissan Motorsports team quelled them at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that recently took place in the UK.
Following the 2010 introduction of the racing-oriented Juke-R concept, Nissan racers were pleased with the ample power and capability that came in the world’s first crossover supercar. Now, five years later in 2015, Nissan celebrated this success with a revised version that is sure to make performance enthusiasts starry-eyed. After all, nothing commemorates the Nissan Juke-R quite like an all-new edition that promises even more speed, potential and pure strength. Set to reach 600 horsepower, the astounding Nissan Juke-R 2.0 borrows its engine from the GT-R Nismo and adds its own carbon fiber accents. The supercar was unveiled and unleashed at the June 25th event with impressive hillclimb times that exceeded those of Ferrari, Porsche, Pagani and Lamborghini rivals.
The debut of the brand-new Juke-R 2.0 wasn’t the only high-point for the supercar at the festival, though. In fact, the Juke Nismo RS can now proudly boast a Guinness world record for the fastest mile on two wheels in a four-wheel car thanks to stunt-man Terry Grant’s impressive driving skills. Carried out in just 2 minutes and 10 seconds, Grant surpassed his previous record by a full 45 seconds. Check out the video below to see him in action!
While the speedy Juke variants can boast top-tier accolades for alacrity and supercar capability, Texas drivers will be just as impressed with the everyday Juke models that offer agility, comfort and plenty of convenience in a sporty subcompact crossover shell.
