Temperatures are once again rising as the Frisco summer is in full force. With thermometers lingering near triple digits, gas prices rising and upcoming family road trips, it only makes sense for Dallas drivers to wonder about car upkeep during these hot summer months. To help you out, Crest Nissan has put together a list of things to check this summer to ensure top-notch car quality.

1. Maintain Your Air Conditioner

There are truly few worse things than a malfunctioning air conditioner in the middle of July. But, what many car owners do not know is the reason behind broken air conditioners. Typically attributed to a shortage of refrigerant, air conditioning issues can occur because of leaks in the system. Test out your air conditioner before your next trip and, if needed, schedule an appointment with our service center today for quick, pain-free assistance.

2. Check Fluids

Cars are meant to be hot. But, if the car gets too hot, moving metal parts can fuse together to cause major repair issues. Luckily, cars come with a cooling system that combines antifreeze, pumps, hoses and fans to help cool the system. To ensure that your car doesn’t overheat in stop-and-go Dallas traffic, check the coolant level in your car and routinely flush your radiator (every 2 years).

3. Monitor Tires

Car tires that are over- or under-inflated cannot run as well. To avoid blowouts on the highway and potential trip-ruining situations, make sure that your car’s tires are not over- or under-inflated. Don’t forget to check the spare either; always better to be safe than sorry!

While these three are especially important, also make sure to check brakes, change your air filter, check hoses, inspect your battery and stay on track with your vehicle’s maintenance schedule for premium car care this summer!
