Will Nissan add a hybrid powertrain to their newest generation of the GT-R? If rumors are to be believed, then yes, many automotive insiders do expect to see the GT-R sport a green engine at some point during its next incarnation.
This new addition wouldn’t happen for the next few years, as the next-gen GT-R isn’t due out until around the year 2020, but Nissan is apparently looking to add a hybrid model to the lineup in hopes of attracting customers who are looking for both a fast and efficient supercar.
This new rumor is just one of many concerning the new GT-R and what Nissan will do with it. First introduced back in 2007, the Nissan GT-R has been a consistent choice for speed enthusiasts and critics who love its fantastic power and equally fantastic price point.
“No car better embodies Nissan's philosophy of building uncompromising performance machines than the GT-R. Easily one of the most capable cars for the money, the Nissan GT-R feels downright invincible on the road,” said Edmunds in their review of the roadster.
