2018 Nissan LEAF Top Updates

Nissan has turned over a new leaf with its pioneering EV, introducing an updated look, state-of-the-art new technologies and improvements to vehicle range. Completely redesigned for 2018, the LEAF gives shoppers a glimpse into the future of the Nissan lineup. With a new appearance, it's taken on cues from models like the Rogue. Along with showing off an attractive floating roof and boomerang lights, it finally gets Nissan's signature V-Motion grille, but one with its own distinct clear blue-colored flush surface that covers a unique 3D mesh pattern.

Chassis and steering enhancements also provide heightened performance, while the e-powertrain now offers greater range along with a boost in power. Continue our 2018 Nissan LEAF review below for more details.

New Features on the Nissan LEAF

When the new Nissan LEAF goes on sale in the Dallas area in early 2018, electric car shoppers will be wowed by its interior updates and new technologies. The center console has been redesigned to be more ergonomic and there are new upscale touches like matte chrome finish on the steering wheel rim. Blue stitching adds a dash of color against the seats and steering wheel, and the 7-inch full-color display has been redesigned so that drivers can more easily view information and features like the power gauge, audio functions and Safety Shield features. Additionally, models with navigation now include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

All-new technologies this year include ProPILOT Assist and an e-Pedal. The former controls the distance between you and the driver ahead, and assists with helping drivers stay within their lanes; it can be set at anywhere between 20-90 mph and can automatically stop the vehicle if the car ahead comes to a stop.

The e-Pedal is a revolutionary feature that will allow drivers to use a single pedal for over 90 percent of driving needs according to Nissan; when taking your foot off of the accelerator pedal, the LEAF will slow down and come to a full stop, then speed up when you press the accelerator pedal again.

Nissan LEAF Range & Performance Updates

One of the biggest highlights according to 2018 Nissan LEAF reviews is the hatchback's increase in range and power. With a 40-kWh Li-ion battery and 147-horsepower electric motor, the car achieves a projected 150-mile range. To compare, the 2017 Nissan LEAF offers a 107-mile range and 107-horsepower motor. If you buy or lease a 2018 Nissan LEAF in the Dallas area, you'll also benefit from the car's chassis improvements, which provide greater stability. In addition, electric power steering updates result in a 10 percent increase in steering torsion bar stiffness, while new Intelligent Ride Control helps improve cornering.

Safety Features on the Nissan LEAF

If keeping your loved ones protected is a priority for you, the 2018 Nissan LEAF will have your back. It's equipped with the Nissan Safety Shield, a technology suite that includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Intelligent Around View Monitor with moving object detection.
