Is your battery on the fritz? View our tips below to find out.
1) Check engine light is on. If you notice one day that your check engine light has come on, it might be an early indication that something is wrong with your battery. Many newer model cars come with a battery specific check light; however, it’s still best to bring your car in for service to make sure all is well with your new or used car.
2) Your engine won’t, or is slow to, crank. If your car or truck is slow to start in the mornings, or in the evenings after work, then you’re probably looking at a defective battery. You’ll want to get your battery looked at immediately if you do start seeing this problem, so you aren’t left out in the cold with a dead battery while out on the town.
3) You see a battery leak. One of the ways to catch battery problems early is to pop your hood every so often and check for any leaks or bulging in the battery’s case. Both of these signs can indicate serious issues that can be avoided if you take it in before the battery fully gives out.
4) Your battery is old. Is your battery over 3 years old? Then getting regular checkups are essential in knowing when you might need a replacement.
